OL2002: Cannot Preview Item Based on Custom Form (288754)

SYMPTOMS
When you select an item in a folder, the following error message appears in the preview pane:
This item contains active content that cannot be displayed in the preview pane. Open the item to read its contents.
CAUSE
The preview pane does not support displaying items that use a custom form. This applies to forms that only contain Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) code, or to forms that do not contain code but have been modified in some other way.
WORKAROUND
Open the item to view its contents instead of using the preview pane.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
The Outlook 2002 preview pane is more restrictive than the preview panes in earlier versions of Outlook. In those versions, only items that contained code were not viewable; however, in Outlook 2002, any item that is based on a custom form cannot be previewed.
