SUMMARY

Event ID: 8010
Source: Application Center
Description: WMI could not indicate changes to log consumer
Event Type: Error
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) could not publish the changes for the event %EventClass% generated by %EventSource% to the logging consumer. These events from this source will not be logged. Status is %Status%: %StatusMessage%.

Meaning: WMI could not notify the Application Center Log consumer of changes for the specified event and event source.

Effect: Logging for this specific event from the specific event source to the Application Center log will not be available on this computer. A subset of events will still be written to the Windows Event Log. This failure does not affect event logging on other cluster members, but the events for this computer will not be available to the cluster controller until this situation is fixed.

Possible Causes and Solutions

Database not running: The SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine might not be running. To verify this: click Start, point to Programs, point to MSDE, and then click Service Manager. There might also be an indicator in the taskbar tray.

Event logging turned off: The logging of the specific event could have been disabled. You can enable event logging by using the Application Center snap-in.

Misconfigured services: One or more of the services that the synchronization service depends on is misconfigured. Check the configuration by using the Services utility in Control Panel utility. The services should be configured as:

Application Center Log Query Helper: General - Startup type: Manual. Recovery - Take no action (all occurrences); Reset fail count after [0] days

Application Center Name Resolution: Recovery - Restart the service (all occurrences); Reset fail count after [49710] days; Restart service after [0] minutes

Windows Management Instrumentation: General - Startup type: Automatic. Log On - Allow service to interact with desktop = No. Recovery - Restart the service (all occurrences); Reset fail count after [1] days; Restart service after [1] minutes

Other solutions (listed in order of preference):
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Use the Support Online link in the Events view.
  3. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services:
NOTE: If %EventClass% appears in the event details, this means that information about the event could not be found. This is expected for some failures.
