Possible Causes and Solutions

Log query component settings: The log query component settings for Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) or Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) might be missing or wrong.

Service not running: The Application Center Name Resolution service might not be running. This service is used by the query process.

Database not running: MSDE might not be running. To check this, click Start, point to Programs, point to MSDE, and then click Service Manager. There might also be an indicator in the taskbar tray.
