This article was previously published under Q288457 SYMPTOMS
If you drag a Microsoft Office file from a personal folders (.pst) file or a Microsoft Exchange Server folder to a location on your computer (such as your desktop) in Outlook 2001 for Mac, a file extension is appended to the file.
For example, a Microsoft Word document with the file name "MyFile" (without quotation marks) would read "MyFile.doc" (without quotation marks) when you create a copy of the file by dragging it to a location on your computer.
WORKAROUND
Use one of the following two methods to work around this behavior: - Save the file directly from the attachment in the message.
- Rename the file and remove the extension.
