XADM: Inaccurate Warnings of a Server's Status When You Run Setup (288316)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q288316 SYMPTOMS
If you run Setup on a server that is being monitored, the server is reported to be in a warning or critical state; however, this message is inaccurate.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because when Setup runs, it does not automatically put the server in Maintenance mode.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, disable all monitoring procedures for the server that Setup is being run on before you run Setup:
- Start Exchange System Manager, and then open the server's properties.
- Click the Monitoring tab, click to select the Disable all monitoring of this server check box, and then click OK.
The server's status is now displayed as "in Maintenance mode" on the status page in Monitoring and Status in Exchange System Manager. You no longer receive warnings of the server's status when you run Setup.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
