This article was previously published under Q288275 SYMPTOMS
When you open a saved .cmw file in the Custom Maintenance Wizard (CMW), the settings that you made in the Change Office User Settings dialog box may not appear.
CAUSE
Settings from the Change Office User Settings dialog box may not appear in the Custom Maintenance Wizard if the following conditions are all true:
- You start the Custom Maintenance Wizard to create a new .cmw file.
- In this session of the wizard, you do not ever display the Change Office User Settings dialog box.
- You save the .cmw file and then reopen it in the wizard.
- You specify settings in the Change Office User Settings dialog box.
- You save the .cmw file and then reopen it in the wizard.
When you skip the Change Office User Settings dialog box the first time that you create the .cmw file, an internal flag in the wizard is not correctly set. Because this internal flag is not correctly set, when you reopen the .cmw file, any changes that you make in the Change Office User Settings dialog box are not saved.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, you must recreate your .cmw file. Do not reopen an existing .cmw that exhibits this behavior.
NOTE: When you recreate your .cmw file, make sure that you display the Change Office User Settings dialog box, even if you are not making any changes to user settings through this dialog box.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
