WD2000: No Macro Warning When You Open RTF Document (288266)

214652. SYMPTOMS If you open a Rich Text Format (RTF) document that has a
template attached that contains macros, Microsoft Word 2000 does not prompt you
with the macro warning message. CAUSE This problem can occur if a template that contains macros
is attached to a Rich Text Format (RTF) document, and the RTF document is
opened in Word. If your computer's security level in Word is set to Medium,
Word does not warn you that the document contains macros. WORKAROUND To temporarily work around this problem with a Rich Text
Format document that you suspect is attached to a template containing macros,
do one of the following:
- Hold SHIFT when you open the Rich Text Format
document.
-or- - In a new blank Word document, click File on the Insert menu, and then insert the RTF document. The new file is
automatically attached to your existing global template (Normal.dot), and the
macros contained in the previously attached template are not inserted into the
new Word document.
RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, obtain the latest

How to Determine Whether the Update Is Installed The update affects the file Winword.exe and updates the version
of Microsoft Word 2000 to version 9.0.5302. To verify that you have the update,
follow these steps:
- Locate the Winword.exe file, and then right-click the
file.
- Select Properties.
- In the Properties dialog box, click the Version tab.
- Click Product Version. The Product Version should be 9.0.5302.
STATUSMicrosoft has
confirmed that this problem may cause a degree of security vulnerability in
Microsoft Word 2000. This problem was first corrected in the
