OL98: Replies to an E-mail from a Shared Team/Group Mailbox Appear in the Outbox (288255)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 98

This article was previously published under Q288255

SYMPTOMS

When you reply to a message in a team/group mailbox, the reply message appears in the Outbox. However, the e-mail is sent. This behavior can occur on computers that are running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 with Service Pack 4 on a Windows NT Server 4.0 Service Pack 4-based domain that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 2.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, click to clear the In folders other than the Inbox save replies with original message check box:
  1. In Outlook 98, on the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail.
  3. Click to clear the In folders other than the Inbox save replies with original message check box, click OK, and then click OK again.

MORE INFORMATION

The In folders other than the Inbox, save replies with original message option saves a copy of each reply in the Sent Items folder. If you reply to a message from a folder other than the Inbox, the reply is saved in the open folder.

If the team/group mailbox is designated as the Inbox, the reply goes to the sender's Sent Items folder. If the team/group mailbox is not designated as an Inbox, the reply goes in the Inbox.
