Creating a 16-Bit OLE Server from Another 16-Bit Program Causes the Process to Be Started in a Separate VDM (288144)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP1

This article was previously published under Q288144

SYMPTOMS

When you run a 16-bit program that makes a call to create a 16-bit OLE server, the OLE server process is created in a separate Virtual DOS Machine (VDM) from that of the calling 16-bit process. This causes OLE communication not to work because the two processes are in different VDMs.
