PRB: Site Server Membership Groups Do Not Match Windows NT Groups (287953)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0
This article was previously published under Q287953 SYMPTOMS
When a user creates a group inside of Site Server Membership, a corresponding group is created in Microsoft Windows NT in the format
"Site_<root name>_<group name>". However, if the total number of groups exceeds 500, groups that are created in Site Server do not have a corresponding group inside of Windows NT.
WORKAROUND
If you have more than 500 Site Server Membership groups, and if there is a discrepancy between the number of Site Server Membership groups and the number of Windows NT groups, use the following steps to synchronize them:
- On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Site Server, point to Administration, and then click Site Server Service Admin (MMC).
- Click to expand the Personalization and Membership nodes.
- Right-click LDAP Server, and then click Properties.
- On the General tab, in the Max query time box, type 0. Under Max results, click Unlimited.
- At a command prompt, type net stop broksvc to stop the Site Server Authentication Service.
- At a command prompt, type net start broksvc to start the Site Server Authentication Service.
