  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q287905

SYMPTOMS

After you rename a folder, your Folder list does not re-sort.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, collapse and re-expand your Folder list tree to force your Folder list to re-sort. To do this, click the minus ( - ) sign, and then click the plus ( + ) sign at the root of the Folder list.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Your Folder list will not automatically re-sort by itself if the first letter of the new folder name is a lower value than the original name. (The letter "A" (without quotation marks) being a lower value than the letter "Z" (without quotation marks). For example, if you have a folder name that is "ZZZZ" (without quotation marks), and you rename the folder to "AAAA" (without quotation marks), your Folder list does not re-sort. However, if your original folder name is "AAAA" and you re-name the folder to "ZZZZ," your Folder list re-sorts.
