OL2002: A Task Item Shortcut Does Not Open an Excel File on a Share Point Server (287824)

If you create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to save to a Share Point server document folder, and then click the Create Outlook Task button, a Task item is created with a shortcut link to the spreadsheet.
When the Task item is received and the recipient attempts to open the spreadsheet by clicking the link, Outlook reports that the link to the Excel spreadsheet is broken.
WORKAROUND
Use one of the following methods to work around this problem:
- Use a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) hyperlink in the Task item instead of including a shortcut.

- Share a virtual drive and create a shortcut to the information.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
