This article describes how you can prevent a new window from being opened when mapping a network drive.

When you map a network drive by clicking the Map Network Drive option from the Tools menu in a Windows Explorer window or from the shortcut menu of My Network Places, a new window opens which displays the contents of the newly mapped drive.
To prevent the new window from opening when you map a network drive, press SHIFT and simultaneously click Finish on the Map Network Drive window.
