XADM: No Servers Are Listed Under the Servers Container (287633)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Exchange Server 2000 Enterprise Edition on a server that is running Windows Clustering, no servers are listed under the Servers container in the Exchange System Manager (ESM).

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Exchange Information Store Resource is not running. This service must be running to enumerate this Exchange virtual server.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, start the Exchange Information Store Resource by using Cluster Administrator.

MORE INFORMATION

After you start the Exchange Information Store Resource for the first time, the server object is written to Active Directory and appears in ESM until you delete the object.
