PRB: Msdatt.dll Unable to Register Itself in System Registry (287614)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Visual Studio 6.0 Setup after having uninstalled the program on the Danish version of Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98, you may receive the following error message:
MSDATT.DLL was unable to register itself in the system registry.
Setup may continue, but the following error message then appears:
Visual Studio 6.0 setup was not completed successfully.

RESOLUTION

  1. Download the latest version of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) from the following Microsoft Web site:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/dataaccess

  2. Install the latest version of MDAC on the computer that is having the problem.
  3. Reinstall Visual Studio 6.0.
