SUMMARY

Because SharePoint Portal Server workspaces are accessed by using a URL, you can create a Web site content source for a workspace URL. However, when you perform an index build, only one document in the remote workspace is indexed, regardless of the content source settings.

This behavior is by design. Web site and SharePoint Portal Server content sources use a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) prefix; however, these content sources are not indexed the same way. You must configure remote workspaces as SharePoint Portal Server content sources to successfully index them.
