SYMPTOMS

When an author or coordinator attempts to copy an .asp file to a workspace folder by using Web folders, the following error message may be displayed:
You do not have permission to copy this file or folder, or there are network problems preventing authentication from the server.
When an author or coordinator uploads the file to a workspace folder by using the portal interface, the following error message may be displayed:
An error occurred while processing your request. Please contact your system administrator for this server.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because you must grant script source access permissions to the folder that you want to copy .asp files to. For security reasons, script source access permissions are not enabled by default on the workspace virtual directory.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, grant script source access permissions to the folder in the workspace virtual root:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Default Web Site, and then click to expand the workspace_name virtual directory.
  3. In the Documents folder, locate the folder that you want to grant permissions for, right-click that folder, and then click Properties.
  4. Under Local Path, click Script source access.
IMPORTANT: If you want to check in and check out .asp files in enhanced document folders, you must also provide script source access permissions to the Shadow folder in the workspace root, which is used to store document versions. If you do not set this permission, when you try to check in the file after the first check out, you receive an authentication prompt, and then you are denied access to perform certain operations. Follow the preceding steps to assign the permission to the Shadow folder.
