PRB: Cannot Connect to OLAP Database Using OLE DB Provider for ODBC (287139)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to remotely administer an OLAP database that uses the OLE DB Provider for ODBC in the datasource, from a computer that does not have the same ODBC data source name (DSN) listed in the ODBC Administrator, the following error message may appear:
Cannot connect to the 'OLAP Database' data source

CAUSE

This behavior is by design. When a DSN is referenced, it needs to be available both locally and on the server.
