OFFXP: System Info on Windows Me Is Not Refreshed When You Press F5 (287038)

On a Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)-based computer, when you attempt to view the system information summary of a Microsoft Office XP program, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
Microsoft program 2002 has not been started or is not installed. Install and/or start program then press F5 to refresh.
When you start the program, return to System Info, and then press F5, the system information summary still does not appear.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Start the Office Program First- Start the Office XP program that you want.
- On the Help menu, click About Microsoft program.
- Click System Info.
- In the Help and Support window, under System Summary, click the PLUS SIGN next to Office XP Applications.
- Click the PLUS SIGN next to the the program that you started in step 1.
- Click Summary.
Method 2: Start System Info First- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type msinfo32, and then click OK.
- In the Help and Support window, under System Summary, click the PLUS SIGN next to Office XP Applications.
- Click the PLUS SIGN next to the the program that you want.
- Click Summary.
- When the error message appears, start the program that you clicked in step 4.
- Switch back to Help and Support.
- On the View menu, click Refresh.NOTE: When you press F5 as prompted in the message, the program's system information is not refreshed as expected.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
