WD2002: Extra Paragraph Mark Is Inserted in Document When You Switch from Dictation to Voice Command Mode (286885)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word, when you say "voice command" to select Voice Command mode, an extra paragraph mark may appear in your document.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs in the following situation:
  • You configure Word to show all formatting marks.

    -and-
  • While in Dictation mode, you say "new paragraph" to insert a new paragraph.

    -and-
  • As the new paragraph mark appears in the document, you say "voice command" to select Voice Command mode.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, select and then delete the extra paragraph mark.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
