WD2002: Recognizers List Remains Empty After Spelling and Grammar Feature Is Installed (286866)

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Spelling and Grammar feature in Microsoft Word, nothing is listed in the Recognizers list.

To view the Recognizers list, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
  2. Click the Smart Tags tab.
You expect the Recognizers list to contain the types of data that can be labeled with Smart Tags after the Word proofing tools are installed.

CAUSE

This problem occurs in the following situation:
  • When you installed Word, you clicked Installed on First Use for the Spelling and Grammar feature .

    -and-
  • You have not restarted the computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, restart the computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
