WD2002: Both the Paste Options and AutoCorrect Options Buttons Are Displayed When You Modify a List (286837)

SYMPTOMS

After you modify the style of a bulleted or a numbered list, both the AutoCorrect Options and the Paste Options buttons are displayed in your document.

You expect only one of these buttons to be displayed at any one time in your document window.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when all of the following conditions are true:
  • You create a document that contains a bulleted or a numbered list.

    -and-
  • You paste a list of the same type into the document.

    -and-
  • You modify the style of the list and link a level of that list to the style.

WORKAROUND

Although there are no adverse effects from having both the AutoCorrect Options and the Paste Options buttons in the document window at the same time, you may want to prevent one or both of them from appearing. To do this, follow these steps.

To Hide the AutoCorrect Options Button

  1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options.
  2. In the AutoCorrect dialog box, click the AutoCorrect tab.
  3. Click to clear the Show AutoCorrect Options buttons check box, and then click OK.

To Hide the Paste Options Button

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Edit tab.
  3. Under Cut and paste options, click to clear the Show Paste Options buttons check box, and then click OK.
