Error 29160 and/or 0x80070079 During ForestPrep of MMIS (286801)

SYMPTOMS

When you run ForestPrep in Mobile Information Server, you may receive the following error messages:
Error 29160: Failed to check if user is domain admin

0x80070079 The semaphore timeout period has expired.

CAUSE

The server is not part of the domain. Mobile Information Server requires that the server be part of an Active Directory domain.

RESOLUTION

Verify that the server has a valid account on the domain and that you are logged on to the domain as a domain user with enough rights to extend the Active Directory schema.
