OFF2001: Office Setup Does Not Use Localized Settings for Dates (286784)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q286784 SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft Office 2001 after you have installed Mac OS to use an international setting such as British English or Spanish, dates may use U.S. English formats.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when Office Setup detects that default formats are in use for dates, and so Office simply sets everything to its own default settings, which are U.S. English.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, if Mac OS is installed to use U.S. English settings, change the Date format in Control Panel, to the localized settings required. Then, reinstall Microsoft Office. Office Setup detects and uses the proper localization settings.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
