MultiServer Console May Open Slowly (286771)

SYMPTOMS

The BackOffice 2000 MultiServer Console may take several seconds to open.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because when you open the MultiServer Console it has to determine the domain name and server to which it needs to connect. Because of this process, it appears that the MultiServer Console is slow or is not responding.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior:
  1. In Windows 2000 Explorer, navigate to the \Program Files\Microsoft BackOffice\Management folder.
  2. Rename the Multiservermanager.msc file to multiservermanager.old.
  3. Right-click the Multiservermanager.old file, and then click Author.
  4. When the MultiServer Manager Console opens, on the Console menu, click Save As, and then save the file as multiservermanager.msc in the \Program Files\Microsoft BackOffice\Management folder.
  5. Close the MultiServer Console.
  6. To restart the BackOffice MultiServer Console, click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft BackOffice Server, and then click BackOffice MultiServer Console.
