SYMPTOMS

When you use the Building Architecture Solution's Wall or Exterior Wall shape from the Walls, Shell and Structure.vss stencil, you cannot manipulate the wall into an arc or curved construct. The shape only functions as a straight wall.

CAUSE

The Wall shapes included in the Building Architecture Solution are straight and not designed to curve; however, Visio includes a sample drawing that does use wall shapes that can curve.

RESOLUTION

To add wall shapes to your drawing that can form a curved wall, follow these steps:

  1. Start Visio and open your drawing file.
  2. On the File menu, click Open, and navigate to the following file:

    C:\Program Files\Visio\Samples\Building Architecture\Floor Plans.vsd

NOTE: If this Visio Technical edition sample drawing is not installed, add this component to your Visio installation. Run Setup, or navigate to the following folder on the Technical Edition CD:

    \Install\bin\Program Files\Visio\Samples\Building Architecture

The Floor Plans.vsd file can be open from the CD directly.
  3. Drag and drop a Wall or Exterior Wall shape from the Walls, Shell and Structure stencil onto an open area of the drawing page.
  4. Select the shape or shapes, and then click Copy on the Edit menu.
  5. Switch to your drawing. On the Window menu, click your drawing's name in the list of open files.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
For more information about about moving a drawing shape to a stencil, click Search on the Help menu, type copy a shape from the drawing page to a stencil in the What would you like to know? box, and then click Search to view the topics.
