Airweb Virtual Directory Is Displayed with a Red Error Icon (286738)

SYMPTOMS

After you successfully install Mobile Information Server, the Airweb virtual directory is displayed with a red Error icon next to it. This icon indicates that the virtual directory has not yet been activated or started.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you previously created the Airweb virtual directory on the computer on which you are installing Mobile Information Server and the Exchange Event Source.

When you install or remove of Mobile Information Server, the Airweb virtual directory may not be removed if you removed the program incorrectly or if you have incorrect administrative rights to the Internet Services Manager.

WORKAROUND

If the Airweb virtual directory is displayed with a red Error icon after you successfully install Mobile Information Server and the Exchange Event Source:
  1. Start the Internet Services Manager.
  2. Right-click the Airweb virtual directory, and then click Properties.
  3. Click OK to activate the virtual directory.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
