OFFXPDEV: "Path Not Found" Error Message When You Create a Package with a Word Document (286697)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Packaging Wizard to try to package a Microsoft Word document that was created from a template, you receive the following error message:
OffWH
Path not found.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, close the document and then reopen it. After you reopen the document, you can create the package.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. On the File menu, click New. In the New Document task pane, click General Templates.
  3. Click the Reports tab, click Professional Reports, and then click OK.
  4. Type a few characters at the beginning of the report, and then save the report.
  5. Press ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor.
  6. On the Add-ins menu, click Packaging Wizard.
  7. In the wizard, keep clicking Next and accept all the defaults until you come to the Application Information page.
  8. Type some characters in the Company Name box.
  9. Click Next again. Note that you receive the "Path not found" error message.
