Proxy Server 2.0 Setup States That IIS 4.0 Configuration Is Not Suitable (286351)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Setup to install Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 on a computer running Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 with the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack and Service Pack 5 installed, you may receive the following error message:

Setup has determined that IIS 4.0 current configuration is not suitable for Microsoft Proxy Server Setup.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Remove the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack.
  2. Apply the latest Windows NT 4.0 service pack.
  3. Install the Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack.
  4. Install Proxy Server 2.0.
  5. Reinstall Windows NT Service Pack 6a.
  6. Install Proxy Service Pack 1.
