SYMPTOMS

When you are viewing a Web page with a frame that contains a JavaScript-based tree menu that expands and collapses when you click the menu, the mouse pointer may not return to the normal pointer after you expand and then collapse a menu. Instead, the pointer may remain as an hourglass with a pointer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade to Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later. For information about obtaining the latest version of Internet Explorer, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, press F5 to refresh the page. The mouse pointer changes back to the normal pointer.

MORE INFORMATION

If you expand a menu and click one of the submenu options, the mouse pointer changes to an hourglass pointer continuously. If you then collapse the menu, the hourglass pointer remains. At this point, the Internet Explorer globe icon in the upper-right corner of the page stops spinning and the page is completely loaded, but the mouse pointer remains an hourglass.
