SideWinder: Throttle Control Does Not Work (286187)

SYMPTOMS

When you play a game or open the game controller properties for the Microsoft SideWinder Joystick 1.0 (USB), the throttle control may not work correctly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the throttle control on the game controller is not calibrated properly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, calibrate the game controller:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Game Controllers or Gaming Options.
  3. Click Microsoft SideWinder Joystick, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Settings tab, click Calibrate.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to calibrate the game controller.

    NOTE: Make sure that you move the throttle control as far as you can in each direction.
  6. Click OK.
