SYMPTOMS

On a client computer that runs a 16-bit operating system, you may receive the following error message when you try to print to a redirected serial printer through a Terminal Session:
This Document Failed to Print Document Name: Printer Name: Time Sent: Click here to open the print queue, and then for assistance, click Troubleshooter on the help menu.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. On a computer that runs Windows for Workgroups and that has an attached serial printer, connect to a Windows .Net Terminal Session.
  2. Try to print to the redirected serial printer.
Note that the default setting in the Terminal Client is to redirect printers and hard disk drives.
