SYMPTOMS

You cannot replace NetMeeting 3.01, which is the version of NetMeeting that is included in Windows 2000, with a version that you create from the NetMeeting Resource Kit. If you try to install such a version, you receive the following error message:
This version of NetMeeting cannot be installed on this version of Windows.

WORKAROUND

You can control NetMeeting by the use of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in versions of NetMeeting that are included in Windows 2000 and later.

To set GPOs for NetMeeting:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then press ENTER.
  2. On the Console menu, click Add/remove snap in, and then click Add.
  3. Add the Group Policy Snap-in, and then click Finish. Click Close. Click OK.
  4. Navigate to the following location:

    Local Computer Policy\User configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Netmeeting

All custom configuration options are available in this window. You can use this same procedure at the Site, Domain, or GPO level.
