Clip2002: Insert Clip Menu Item Is No Longer an Option (285639)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office XP, when you click a clip in Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002, an arrow appears to the right of the clip. However, when you click the arrow, there is no Insert clip option to insert the clip into your document as expected.

In earlier versions of Office, when you click a clip in the Clip Gallery, a pop-up menu appears. On the pop-up menu, you can click Insert clip to insert the clip into your document.

NOTE: You can drag the clip from Clip Organizer to your document.

WORKAROUND

To insert a clip from Clip Organizer, drag the clip from Clip Organizer to your document.

You can also use the following procedure to find a clip and then insert the clip into your document:

On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
In the Insert Clip Art task pane, in the Search text box, type a word or phrase that describes the clip that you want, or type the file name of the clip. (You can also type only a portion of the file name of the clip.)
To narrow your search, do one or both of the following:
1. To limit search results to a specific collection of clips, under Search in, click the arrow, and then select the collections that you want to search.
2. To limit search results to a specific type of media file, under Results should be, click the arrow, and then select the check box next to the types of clips that you want to find.
Click Search.

NOTE: To clear the search criteria fields and begin a new search, under the Results box, click Modify.

TIP: If you don't know the exact file name, you can substitute wildcard characters for one or more real characters. Use the asterisk (*) as a substitute for zero or more characters in a file name. Use the question mark (?) as a substitute for a single character in a file name.
In the Results box, click the clip to insert it.
