  • Microsoft Windows 98

This article was previously published under Q285609

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your computer from Microsoft Windows 98 to Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, you discover that the Mindspring digital subscriber line (DSL) software that worked with Windows 98 no longer functions. Reinstalling the software does not resolve the problem.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Mindspring software, which uses Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPOE), does not create a new virtual PPPOE adapter as required.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Mindspring for an updated version of the DSL software, which is downloadable from their Web site.
