Clip2002: Collections Appear to Have Subcollections Even When They Do Not (285607)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002

This article was previously published under Q285607

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Clip Organizer, when you expand the collections tree in the Search in box (click Search on the Clip Organizer Standard toolbar), collections that do not contain subcollections indicate the presence of subcollections with a plus sign and the three-dimensional check box effect.

When you click the plus sign next to the check box in a collection that does not contain a subcollection (for example, the Academic collection in the Office Collections folder), the plus sign disappears, but the three-dimensional check box effect remains.

When you click to clear the check box in a collection that does not contain a subcollection, the check box clears as expected. When you then click to select the check box again, the check box is selected as expected, and the three-dimensional check box effect does not appear. When you then click to clear the check box again, the check box does not clear and the three-dimensional check box effect appears instead.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, click the check box until the check box is cleared. You will not have to click the check box more than twice to clear it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
