Clip2002: Clip Moved to Clip Organizer Is Converted to Different Format (285604)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002
This article was previously published under Q285604 SYMPTOMS
When you use a drag-and-drop operation to move pictures from Office programs to Clip Organizer, the format of the picture may be converted.
For example, if you drag a Windows metafile (WMF) format clip from Clip Organizer into an Office Art-aware application (such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Excel), and then drag it back into Clip Organizer, the WMF clip may be converted into a PNG bitmap.
Pictures dragged from a Word document to Clip Organizer become WMF format. However, a picture dragged from a Word drawing canvas to Clip Organizer is converted to a PNG file. (To create a drawing canvas, point to Picture on the Insert menu, and then click New Drawing.)
Pictures dragged from PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, or Excel to Clip Organizer are converted into PNG format.
WORKAROUND
If you need to retain the format of your picture file, do not use the drag-and-drop method to add the picture to Clip Organizer.
To add clips to Clip Organizer from the original picture source file, and retain the format of your picture file, follow these steps:
NOTE: You must have the original source picture file saved on your hard drive to follow these steps.
- On the File menu, point to Add Clips to Gallery, and then click On My Own.
- Locate the folder that contains the original picture source file you want to add, and then select the clip or clips you want.
- To choose a collection, click Add to, and then select the collection to which you want to add the clip.
- Click Add.
