PPT2002: Animated Text Grows or Shrinks Suddenly or Unevenly in Web Presentation (285568)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q285568 SYMPTOMS
When you view a Web page preview in PowerPoint, or view a Web presentation in a Web browser, animated text that grows or shrinks does not change smoothly from the original size to the final size. The text size changes suddenly and unevenly.
CAUSE
This behavior is a limitation of how text is displayed in a Web browser. The animation is created by changing the text size in the steps allowed by HTML instead of smoothly changing the size.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, convert the text to a graphic. A growing or shrinking graphic changes in steps in a Web presentation, but the steps may be smaller and less noticeable than with text, depending on the size of the text and how much the text grows or shrinks. To convert the text to a graphic, follow these steps: and then test the animation:
- Start PowerPoint, and then open the presentation.
- Right-click the animated text, and then click Save as Picture.
- In the Save as type box, click Enhanced Windows Metafile (*.emf). Click Save.
- Click the text, right-click the frame around the text, and then click Cut.
- On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
- Click the picture that you saved in step 3, and then click Insert.
- On the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation.
- In the Custom Animation task pane, click Add Effect, point to Emphasis, and then click Grow/Shrink.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the General tab, click Web Options. Click to select the Show slide animation while browsing check box on the General tab of Web Options dialog box.
- Click OK twice.
- On the File menu, click Web Page Preview.
- Click the center of the presentation in the Web browser.
- If the animation of the graphic looks smoother than the animation of the text, save the presentation.
-OR-
If the animation of the graphic looks less smooth than the animation of the text, close the presentation without saving the changes.
