PPT2002: Multiple Masters Are Created Even When Multiple Masters Check Box Is Cleared (285481)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q285481

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft PowerPoint, when you use the Compare and Merge Presentations command, you may format your merged presentation with multiple masters even though you have cleared the Multiple masters check box.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Compare and Merge Presentations command on the Tools menu ignores the fact that the Multiple masters check box is not selected.

MORE INFORMATION

When you click to clear the Multiple masters check box on the Edit tab in the Options dialog box, you are prevented from inserting another master into the presentation. However, presentations with different masters may be merged. This feature allows collaborative work on presentations while restricting unintended changes from being made to the presentation.

For more information about masters, click Microsoft PowerPoint Help on the Help menu, type master in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.
