The maximum password length for a Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 presentation is 255 characters. When you type a password, the cursor stops moving after the 255th character.

To set a password to open a PowerPoint presentation, follow these steps:
  1. Start PowerPoint 2002, and then open the presentation that you want.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.

    Notice that the Options dialog box appears.
  3. On the Security tab, under File encryption settings for this document, in the Password to open box, type the password that you want (up to 255 characters), and then click OK.

    Notice that the Confirm Password dialog box appears.
  4. In the Reenter password to open box, type the password that you used in step 3, and then click OK.
To set a password to modify a PowerPoint presentation, follow these steps:
  1. Start PowerPoint 2002, and then open the presentation that you want.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
