PPT2002: Cannot Scroll Smoothly Through the Revisions Task Pane Gallery (285435)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q285435

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, and you then save the presentation as a Presentation for Review type, you may not be able to use a mouse equipped with a wheel to scroll through all of the files in the Revisions task pane gallery.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the mouse wheel is set to scroll two or three lines at a time. Most mouse drivers default to three lines per click of the scroll wheel when you install the driver.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, set the mouse wheel to scroll only one line at a time. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. In the Mouse Properties dialog box, click the Wheel tab.
  4. In the lines at a time box, click 1 under Scrolling, and then click OK.
NOTE: Some versions of the Microsoft Mouse driver and some third-party mouse drivers do not have a user interface (UI) capability to change the sensitivity of the mouse wheel. If your Mouse Properties dialog box does not have a Wheel tab, contact the manufacturer of your mouse for updated drivers or instructions about how to change the scrolling sensitivity of your mouse wheel.
