This article was previously published under Q285416

SYMPTOMS

When you save a presentation on one computer, and then open the presentation on a different computer, some of the text in TrueType fonts may not appear correctly, even though you have selected the setting to embed TrueType fonts when the presentation is saved. There are no error or warning messages when you save the presentation.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when both of the following conditions are true:
  • The TrueType font could not be embedded.

    -and-
  • The presentation was saved programmatically with a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. On the computer on which the presentation was created, start PowerPoint and open the presentation.
  2. On the File menu, click Save As. Give the file a new name, and then click Save.
  3. Review the warning message for saving fonts, and then click Cancel.
  4. Do either of the following steps:

    • Change the font in PowerPoint to a font that already exists on both computers.

      -or-
    • Install the font referenced in the PowerPoint warning message so that the font exists on both computers.

NOTE: You must have the proper software licenses to install a copyrighted font on a computer. For more information, please contact your font manufacturer.
  5. Save the presentation again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When a TrueType font cannot be embedded during a save operation, you receive the following (or similar) warning message:
Some of your fonts cannot be saved with the presentation.
