PPT2002: Missing File Message When You Attempt to Edit a Web Page with PowerPoint (285414)

When you open a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (that has been published as a Web page) in Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then click Edit with Microsoft PowerPoint on the File menu, you receive an error message similar to the following:
Problems came up in the following areas during load:
Missing file: http://web server/slide name/pres.xml
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you do the following:
- You create a single-slide presentation.
- You publish the slide as a Web page.
- You open the Web page in Internet Explorer and make it available offline.
- In Internet Explorer, you click Work Offline on the File menu.
- In Internet Explorer, you click Edit with Microsoft PowerPoint on the File menu.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, work online in Internet Explorer when you edit the Web page with PowerPoint.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
