The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q285406

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro to add an OLE object to a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, a label may be added to the object's icon even though no label is specified.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The OLE object is displayed as an icon.

    -and-
  • You specify the icon label as "".

    -or-
  • You do not specify the icon label.
When no label is specified, or the label is specified as an empty string (""), PowerPoint uses the name stored in the icon as a label. The following sample code exhibits this behavior:
Sub A()
    With ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes
        .AddOLEObject ClassName:="PowerPoint.Show", DisplayAsIcon:=msoTrue, IconLabel:=""
    End With
End Sub

    End With
End Sub
