PUB2002: Form Controls Inside a Textbox Become Distorted When Rotated (285375)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q285375 SYMPTOMS
If you rotate the text frame of a Microsoft Publisher publication, objects contained in the frame may become distorted.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you rotate a text frame that contains a check box or option button by more than 45 degrees. When you rotate a form less than 45 degrees, the objects do not become distorted, but they are not rotated along with with the frame.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, you can re-create the shape of the check box (square) or the option button (circle) by drawing it with the drawing tools included with Microsoft Publisher. To do so, follow these steps:
- On the Objects toolbar, click Oval or Rectangle.
- Drag the mouse diagonally until the object is the size and shape that you want.
- Rotate the check box to the angle that you want.
NOTE: This workaround allows you to print a publication with rotated text and form controls. However, the manually created controls do not function in a Web page. If you intend to use the form controls in a Web page, do not rotate them.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. REFERENCESFor more information about drawing and adding shapes to your publication, click Microsoft Publisher Help on the
Help menu, type add shapes in the Office Assistant or
the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics
