OFFXP: TIFF Files Do Not Open When You Double-Click Them (285365)

When you attempt to open a Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) image by double-clicking it, the Open With dialog box appears and you receive the following message:
Open With...
Click the program you want to use to open filename.tif.
If the program is not listed, click Other.
CAUSE
This problem can occur after you remove Office XP.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, re-associate the TIFF file type with the Windows Imaging program. To do this, use either of the following methods.
Method One- When the Open With dialog box appears, scroll through the list of programs and select Imaging.
- Make sure the Always use this program to open these files check box is selected, and then click OK.
Method Two
To manually associate the TIFF file type with the Windows Imaging program, follow these steps: NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps. - Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Folder Options.
- In the Folder Options dialog box, click the File Types tab.
- Under Extensions, click TIF.
- Click Change.
- In the Choose the program you want to use box, click Imaging, and then click OK.
