The euro symbol is not printed correctly in PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003 (285301)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q285301

SYMPTOMS

When you print a presentation from PowerPoint that includes the Euro currency symbol , the Euro symbol may not be printed at all, or it may be printed as a box.

CAUSE

This behavior can be caused by printer drivers that use built-in fonts with the same name instead of downloading fonts from the system. The built-in fonts may not contain the Euro symbol.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Set PowerPoint to Print TrueType Fonts as Graphics

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Print tab, click Print TrueType fonts as graphics.
  3. Click OK.

Method 2: Set the Printer to Download Fonts as Graphics

  1. On the File menu, click Print.
  2. Click Properties, and then click Advanced.
  3. In the TrueType Font list, select Download as Softfont, and then click OK twice.

Method 3: Get a New Printer Driver

Some print drivers do not download fonts as graphics even when you have set the option in PowerPoint. Check with the printer vendor to see if they have a newer printer driver available that uses this option.
