The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
This article was previously published under Q285126 SYMPTOMS
When you have configured Microsoft Mobile Information Server to send push notifications to mobile devices, the following message may be displayed on the user device:
Short Message Memory Full CAUSE
The mobile device usually has 4 kilobytes (KB) allocated for the Short Message Service (SMS) functionality. The SMS notification can be a maximum of 160 characters in length. When this limit is reached (after approximately 25 notifications), the user receives the message described in the "Summary" section.
RESOLUTION
To continue to receive notifications, delete notifications that have already been read to release some of the SMS memory.
MORE INFORMATION
When the SMS memory on the device is full, the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) at the carrier attempts to deliver the notifications until a certain time. This time may vary depending on the carrier timeout period. If the notifications cannot be delivered to the device before the timeout period, the notification is deleted by the SMSC.
