SUMMARY

This article describes how to create a list of all wireless-enabled users when you are using Microsoft Mobile Information Server.

MORE INFORMATION

It is not currently possible to view a list of all wireless-enabled users by using the administration tools that are supplied with Microsoft Mobile Information Server. However, you can use the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in to create a filter or to do a custom search, which lists all the users who are enabled for wireless mobility. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
  2. On the View menu, click Filter Options, click Create Custom Filter, and then click Customize.
  3. In the LDAP query edit box, click Advanced, and then type the following text:
    (&(objectclass=user)(microsoftCom1991AirWirelessEnabled=TRUE))

  4. Click the Users container to view a list of users that have been enabled for wireless mobility.
You can also use Ldp.exe (that is included in the Windows 2000 Support tools) to create a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) query that returns this information.

In addition, to view all wireless enabled users in an Active Directory organizational unit, and export that list to a comma or tab delimited text file, you can use the Mobile Information Server Users snap-in, included on the Mobile Information Server installation media CD-ROM, located in the following folder:
