User Device Notifications Are Not Sent When Exchange Notifications Component Is Reinstalled (285071)

In Microsoft Mobile Information Server, if you remove and reinstall the Exchange Notifications component on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, notifications to user devices may not be sent.
CAUSE
When the Exchange Notifications component that is installed on the Exchange 2000 server is removed, Wnotify.dll is unregistered and deleted. Exchange 2000 then disables event binding to the store so that events are no longer triggered. However, when the Exchange Notifications component is reinstalled, Exchange 2000 does not attempt to send notifications until the Exchange 2000 information store service is restarted or a new binding is created through preferencing.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:
- After you reinstalling the Exchange Notifications component, restart the Exchange 2000 information store service.
-or- - Instruct users to repreference their devices by pointing a browser to the following URL:
